Music

"Music can change the world because it can change people."

-Bono

Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high-quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. Here at St Charles', our intent is that children are encouraged to make music and to develop an appreciation of different types of music.

Throughout the academic year, all children are invited to take part in our school choir group, Christmas Nativities, carol concerts, class liturgies and end of year productions. Children learn a variety of instruments throughout KS2 and are also provided with opportunities to access a range of professional tuition of musical instruments.

Mrs Bertenshaw leads Music provision across the school and during this academic year will be delivering specialist sessions across the school. We will be using Charanga in our music lessons which will develop and deepen pupils' understanding of the interrelated dimensions of music.
