“The world today doesn’t make sense, so why should I paint pictures that do?
The important thing is to just create.”
- Pablo Picasso
Art is taught once a term in rotation with D&T. As part of our art curriculum, pupils cover four key themes: Drawing and Sketchbooks; Print, Colour and Collage; Paint, Surface and Texture and Sculpture. These themes are covered across key stages and pupils develop key knowledge and skills progressively as they journey through school.
Within this subject, children are exposed to a wide variety of art genres and artists. They also have the opportunity to revisit previous learning, therefore enabling them to embed the skills and techniques learnt throughout the years in St Charles’.
We are committed to the wider development of young people and encourage collaborations with professional artists and art organisations through trips and visitors in school.
