Welcome to our ‘Prayer at Home’.

An unprecedented time

This is an occasion for all of us – especially in families – to pray more intensely for each other and especially for those who have succumbed to the illness. We should pray also for those at the front lines – especially doctors, nurses and medical staff, teachers and other carers, including clergy – that the Lord will protect them as they place their own well being at risk in the service of all.

These resources are offered to help those who are struggling to find words at this difficult and stressful time, and to enable us, as Roman Catholics, to worship in solidarity with one another even if it is not possible to gather in church.

This section of our school website will provide daily prayers for home rooted in the Sunday Gospel for families to pray together and weekly ‘Sunday Liturgy for Families’ for an opportunity for families to lead their own Sunday liturgy following the order of the Mass, leading to 'Spiritual Communion'.

We plan to make these resources available throughout the Easter holidays and continue until normal service resumes in schools and churches.

For our parents, our Hexham and Newcastle Diocese website has links to live streams of Masses.

You can listen to Bishop Robert's Homily recorded at the Cathedral Church of St. Mary's on Friday 20 March 2020. Bishop Robert shares his thoughts and prayers on the challenges faced in the light of Coronavirus.

There is also a link to ‘The Tablet’, which is the International Catholic News Weekly for articles and a compilation of online resources for Catholics during the Covid-19 pandemic

For our children, CAFOD are intending to deliver a ‘Virtual children's liturgy’ which will comprise of live sessions every Sunday. Please check the website below later this week for the link to register if you would like to prayer together with other families. There are also weekly Lent activity sheets that you can download and work through with your children.
